A client since 2001, Theatre Charlotte is Charlotte’s oldest continuously operating theatre company. TC began as the Little Theatre of Charlotte during the Great Depression of the 1930s and has been at home in their Queens Road Playhouse since 1941. To date, Theatre Charlotte estimates that they have presented more than 460 main stage productions to over a half million patrons, engaging over 500 community volunteers each season.

In 2001, our work began with development of a Program and Master Plan for major renovation and expansion of the Queens Road Playhouse. The first phase of the master plan was executed with the design and construction of a new Scene Shop, Dressing Rooms with Green Room, and backstage support space. The quality and popularity of TC’s programming and productions have grown over the past decade and Theatre Charlotte is as vibrant and essential in the community as it ever has been. However, the physical needs of TC have nearly outstripped the capacity and limitations of the 75 year old facility and work is underway to explore sustainable and secure options for housing Theatre Charlotte’s next 75 years. Our current work on-the-boards includes feasibility and conceptual design studies for potential future development.
